Bomba is the most exclusive of the two types of rice grown in Calasparra, so exclusive that every pack is numbered ! Recognised by aficionados as the supreme rice for making Paella or other Valencian rice based dishes, because it can absorb up to 3 times it’s weight in liquid (read "flavours") whilst retaining its characteristic firmness, but staying as separate grains. Bomba is a naturally very dry rice, as a result it requires more liquid and longer cooking to achieve optimum results. Other Calasparra rices will typically absorb around twice their quantity in liquid. The exclusivity is displayed not only in the pack numbering, but also in the price – if you want to make an extra special Paella, this is the rice to use. 1kg.
