Bomba is the most exclusive of the two types of rice grown in Calasparra, so exclusive that every pack is numbered ! Recognised by aficionados as the supreme rice for making Paella or other Valencian rice based dishes, because it can absorb up to 3 times it’s weight in liquid (read: flavours) whilst retaining it’s characteristic firmness, but staying as separate grains. Bomba is a naturally very dry rice, as a result it requires more liquid and longer cooking to achieve optimum results. Other Calasparra rices will typically absorb around twice their quantity in liquid.
